John O’Brien Bush FestivalDate: 15 Mar 2012
The John O'Brien Bush Festival takes place in Narrandera on March 15-18 and, coinciding with St Patrick's Day, bush poetry, Irish music sessions and dancing, along with traditional Aussie events will be on offer.
Join the locals and help celebrate this annual event in honour of the famous Australian poet John O'Brien, who lived and worked as Narrandera's parish priest, Father Patrick Hartigan, for many years.
His best-known poems include 'Said Hanrahan', 'Tangmalangaloo' and 'Around the Boree Log'. Many of his books are available at Narrandera's Visitor Information Centre.
Australia's Bush Poet Champions will be there along with heaps of new talent. Features include an art show, poets' breakfasts, yarns around the Boree Log, with buskers, stalls and lots more! This year even features a carnival conga with prizes for the most outrageous costume!
